Tulle Spinning Top Magma over yellow Titanium
PRE-SALE!!!! SHIPPING EARLY JANUARY!!
This is Tulle. Tulle is designed to look like a dancer spinning. Watch the video below for all the info. This version is a Magma copper body over a yellowed titanium stem with a tungsten carbide contact point. This is an excellent warping top and spins for around 30 seconds.
This top was designed to push my new CNC milling machines capabilities and look fantastic at the same time. Not only did it push my mill it taxed my brain figuring out how to hold it for machining. I spent hours staring at the computer screen going through every different way I could think of to hang onto it.
Why is it called Tulle? This top was modeled after a ballet dancer in a tutu performing a pirouette, or spinning on one foot. For those out there that don't know what Tulle is, it's a whispy, see thru, net like fabric that dancers wear, a tutu is made out of tulle. It's also really common on wedding dresses. For you collectors out there, if ever there was a top to convince your significant other to join you in your hobby this is it.
Tulle is just under 1.5" and weighs between 38 and 42 grams. The longest I've gotten it to spin is 33 seconds. It warps nicely for those who are into warp videos. It will come with a tungsten carbide contact point. I'm only offering 4 material combos on this initial run. Magma copper over yellow titanium, bronze over blued titanium, raw ss over raw titanium (I don't have a picture of this combo unfortunately), and blued ss over blued titanium. The blueing (flaming) comes out really interesting on these. Don't expect a perfect even blue the shape of the body creates a really cool oil slick effect.
If sales go well I'll do another run in the new year that will include exotic materials. I have some ideas for exotics that, if successful, will be really cool and unique!
